Reading the Bible can feel overwhelming, confusing or intimidating. This seminar at St Mary’s Hall will help you move from uncertainty to confidence, and from information to transformation, as you learn to read and live the Scriptures within the life of the Church.
Morning Session
Learn how to read and understand the Bible as a Catholic. We’ll look at the unity of Scripture and Tradition, how to interpret the Word of God in light of the Church’s teaching, and practical ways to pray with Scripture — especially through lectio divina and the rhythm of the liturgy.
Lunch
Afternoon Session
Lean how to begin and sustain a Bible study, including how to form a group and foster discussion that deepens understanding and communion. Whether you want to start a Bible study, join an existing one, or enrich your personal study, you’ll leave equipped to make Scripture a part of your daily life.

Presenter: Deacon John Harden
Deacon John Harden is the director of Eastern Catholic formation and evangelization for the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Parma and the manager of small group programs at Ascension Press. He has a bachelor’s in theology from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kansas, and a master’s in theology from Franciscan University in Steubenville, Ohio. He, his wife, and their seven children live in Kansas City, Missouri.
